When Societies Rebel

I recently participated in a discussion with the Privacy Committee of the Continental Congress 2009 where we discussed the vanishing privacy in the United States and the Federal government's encroachments on our liberties since 9/11. What I had to say was scary, so if you don't want to be scared, turn the page and read something else because I don't like scaring people. I hate saying, "I told you so." I hate when these scary things actually happen and I'm doing everything in my power to prevent them.
Now, let me paint a frightening scenario for you and you can take it, or leave it. This world, and in fact our country, is in the middle of a storm of opposition of the people against their government. That happens when the government is corrupt, oppressive and greedy. When governments go bad, people oppose them and the more people oppose them the more government attempts to restrict and control the people. It's a cycle and when you get into this portion of the cycle - the end portion of a cycle that has been repeating itself over and over throughout all of history - either one of two things happens; either the people openly rebel and revolt against the government, , which has happened many, many times throughout history, and usually results in a period of relative freedom, or, conversely, when you get into that point of opposition between the people and their government the government becomes brutally tyrannical and clamps down on people and shoots them, like what happened in Tiananmen Square, China. The government represses, rounds them up and begins killing people because they want to prevent that open revolt.
Now, I don't want either of those outcomes. I am a Bible believing Christian. I truly believe that we are supposed to pray for our enemies. I truly believe that love is the answer to everything and if I have to 'go down with the ship,' I'm going to go down with the ship believing that. Now that doesn't mean that I won't defend my home, myself and my property. And it doesn't mean that I won't defend my nation, because I will defend all of the above. But, I do believe that is an action of absolute last recourse. That's why I'm a big believer in what recently occurred at the Continental Congress held in Illinois because I believe those delegates were trying a last ditch effort to say here are our grievances, let us lay them out for you.
