A Vision Statement for

Fort Fairfield's Future

"We the citizens of Fort Fairfield celebrate our rich historical past, strive to enhance our quality of life, and energize our community for a sustainable future, by leading boldly with excellence through a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness with respect for ourselves and others."

The Vision for Fort Fairfield's Future (V3F) has compiled a draft vision statement to describe the goals of their committee, based upon input contributed by community members at the January 14 meeting held at the Fort Fairfield Middle/High School.

The V3F recently conducted a steering committee meeting where the vision statement was drafted. “A vision statement should describe who we are; our core beliefs, values and purpose and should articulate an envisioned future,” said Fort Fairfield Town Manager, Dan Foster. “It is important that you review the ideas that were presented at the meeting in January to see if the vision statement is consistent with how we view ourselves and where we want to be. I would appreciate any thoughts regarding changes to the vision statement that community members would deem appropriate so that they can be incorporated prior to our meeting on February 25th at the High School.”

The V3F also formed ten committees that represent segments of Fort Fairfield's community life. “I invite Fort Fairfield inhabitants to review these committees and choose the one that they would like to participate on. Each committee is charged with establishing goals and strategies that would be consistent with the vision statement and articulate some of the hopes and dreams that were shared at the January 14th meeting," said Foster.

“These goals and strategies will then be complied into the Fort Fairfield Economic Development Investment Strategy. This document will be approved by the Town Council and the Town’s administration will focus on fulfilling those goals as available resources allow.”

The ten committees are: The Creative Economy; Commercial/Industrial Development; Main Street Development; Young Professional Families; Residential Development; Health Care; Education; Recreation; Agriculture; and Our Cultural Heritage.

The V3F currently plans for the February meeting to have members reach consensus on the Vision Statement, spend some time discussing the process of how to establish goals and strategies, and have time to break up into individual groups to start the process.

“I want to thank all of you for your willingness to help with this process, it simply would not be possible without citizens involvement. Please do not hesitate to let me know of any questions or concerns regarding what we are proposing to do.”
